Editorial & Sourcing Policy
This site's credibility is its mission. The news feed follows the same standard as the teaching pages: every claim sourced, every item dated, opponents and disputes described accurately.
01Editorial, not a firehose
Every item in the feed is written or curated by an editor. Nothing is auto-aggregated, and nothing is published without a named, linked source. The feed exists to inform prayer and action, not to chase traffic.
02Attribution and dating
Every article names and links its original source, and every article is dated. Where our summary goes beyond the cited source, the body says so. We prefer primary sources — patriarchal and synodal statements, diocesan announcements — and reputable news organizations over commentary.
03Persecution reporting: accuracy is a moral duty
Reports of violence against Christians are the part of this feed most likely to be amplified — and most damaging if wrong. For grave claims we require corroboration from more than one independent source, or a primary source with direct knowledge, before publishing. Persecution items carry a severity label (concern, serious, grave), a country, and where the story belongs to the longer history of the suffering Church, a link to the timeline's Persecutions & Martyrdom layer.
When the facts are uncertain, we say so in the article rather than rounding up. We would rather under-claim than spread rumor about the suffering of real people.
04Neutrality within Orthodoxy
The feed is pan-Orthodox. It reports the actions and statements of all canonical Eastern Orthodox jurisdictions without taking sides in live intra-Orthodox disputes — including contested questions of autocephaly and recognition, which we describe rather than adjudicate.
Its center of gravity is the Eastern Orthodox communion, but the suffering Church does not divide cleanly along confessional lines: when the Greek Orthodox and Syriac Orthodox bishops of Aleppo were abducted together, their stories cannot be told apart. Where events reach into the wider Christian East we cover them too — and we keep the distinction exact. The Oriental Orthodox (Miaphysite) Churches are not in communion with the Eastern Orthodox, and we never blur the two.
05Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct the article and note the correction in its body. Factual challenges are welcome; write to the editors through the contact information on the About page.
06Why full articles are members-only
Headlines, summaries, and sources are public. Full articles ask for a free membership — a small threshold that keeps the feed a curated, accountable space and lets members save and follow the stories that matter to them. Some articles of broad public concern are published without the member gate.
