About this site
An educational work in the Eastern Orthodox tradition — and the standard it holds itself to.
What this is
Orthodoxy.Church is an educational guide to the Eastern Orthodox Church — its history, its theology, and the case that it is the original Church of Christ, preserved unbroken. It is written for inquirers, newcomers, and anyone trying to understand what the Orthodox actually believe and why.
It is an independent educational work in the Orthodox tradition. It is not the official organ of any patriarchate, synod, jurisdiction, or parish, and it speaks for none of them. Where it teaches, it teaches the common faith; where the Church’s own members disagree, it says so.
Pan-Orthodox by design
The Orthodox Church is one faith lived across many self-governing (autocephalous) churches. This site treats them as that one faith, rather than promoting any single jurisdiction. On questions the churches themselves contest — most visibly, recent disputes over autocephaly and recognition — it describes the dispute and its sources rather than ruling on it.
It keeps one distinction exact: the Oriental Orthodox (Miaphysite) Churches are not in communion with the Eastern Orthodox, and the two are never blurred together, even where their histories and sufferings overlap.
How it is sourced
Two rules govern the content. Every factual claim is sourced — to Scripture, the Ecumenical Councils, or the consensus of the Fathers — so a reader can verify it. And those who disagree with the Orthodox position are represented accurately and charitably before they are answered; the site argues against real positions, not caricatures.
The news feed holds itself to the same standard, with the additional care that reporting on the suffering Church demands. You can read that standard in full in our editorial & sourcing policy.
Corrections
Accuracy is this site’s credibility, and its credibility is its mission. When something here is wrong, we want to fix it: corrections are made openly, and where an article’s substance changes, the change is noted in the article itself.
A standing channel for readers to submit corrections and questions is being set up; until it is published here, the commitment stands — no claim is meant to outlive the evidence for it.
